[EN] After "Visage" (Margin 24) and "The Big Picture" (Margin 31), recorded in Paris in 1998 and 2003, respectively, Gérard Terronès releases a third album by Rob Brown, a strong-willed American alto saxophonist known for his uncompromising and challenging playing style. "Unexplained Phenomena" (Margin 48) was recorded this time in New York during the 15th Vision Festival, featuring top-notch musicians such as Matt Moran (vibraphone), Chris Lightcap (double bass), and Gerald Cleaver (drums). It's demanding and lively music with a bouncing swing that keeps the discerning listener engaged throughout the entire concert, a "visionary music firmly rooted in the present, drawing extensively from the past, and navigating with care and courage through all these unexplained phenomena to reach the uncertainty of tomorrow!" (Steve Dalachinsky). This encapsulates the entire conundrum of jazz today.

[FR] Après "Visage" (Marge 24) et "The Big Picture" (Marge 31), enregistrés à Paris respectivement en 1998 et en 2003, Gérard Terronès publie un troisième disque de Rob Brown, saxophoniste-alto américain de solide tempérament, au jeu sans concessions ni facilités. "Unexplained Phenomena" (Marge 48) a, cette fois, été enregistré à New York lors du 15e Vision Festival, en compagnie de musiciens de premier plan, Matt Moran (vibraphone), Chris Lightcap (contrebasse) et Gerald Cleaver (batterie). Une musique exigeante, remuante et au swing rebondissant qui tient l’amateur éclairé en alerte d’un bout à l’autre de ce concert, une " musique visionnaire parfaitement enracinée dans l’aujourd’hui, puisant à pleines mains dans l’hier et manœuvrant avec soin et bravoure à travers tous ces phénomènes inexpliqués pour atteindre l’incertitude du demain ! " (Steve Dalachinsky). C’est toute la problématique du jazz aujourd’hui.
