For those not familiar with Sharrock's work this album should appeal to those interested in "fusion", rock, and it has funk elements to it. Generally known as a free improvisor, this album won't disappoint - although it is more accessible to some listeners as far as it has some recognizable structures, themes, and melodies. A legendary player, Sonny Sharrock and band does not disappoint. 5 stars.

I was brought here after listening to a live performance of Makaya's on you tube. I instantly loved the song Holy Lands so much that I had to see if the album version was the same rendition as the live one. Then I listened to the whole album! Universal Beings is a just a groove...
