[EN] This was a very interesting collaboration between saxophonists Hal Singer and David Murray. Aided my Murray's core band of Lafayette Gilchrist on piano, Jaribu Shahid on bass and Hamid Drake on drums, the group develops a nice swing feel that is less of a tenor battle and more of a friendly conversation ... Singer tends to reign in Murray's occasional over-exuberance, and Murray in turn challenges Singer to a high level. Classy photographs of the sessions and liner notes in English and French round out an excellent package.

[FR] Il s'agissait d'une collaboration très intéressante entre les saxophonistes Hal Singer et David Murray. Avec l'aide du groupe de base de Murray, composé de Lafayette Gilchrist au piano, Jaribu Shahid à la basse et Hamid Drake à la batterie, le groupe développe une belle sensation de swing qui est moins un combat de ténors qu'une conversation amicale... Singer a tendance à contenir l'enthousiasme occasionnel de Murray, et Murray, à son tour, met Singer au défi à un niveau élevé. Des photographies élégantes des sessions et des notes de pochette en anglais et en français complètent un excellent ensemble.
