Futura Ger 27

[EN] Gérard Terronès is also reissuing a rarity from his catalog, recorded around the same time: "Aorta" by Paul van Gysegem's sextet (Futura GER 27). This Flemish double bassist had surrounded himself with Belgian musicians who, like him, remained relatively unknown beyond their borders, and Dutch musicians Jasper van't Hof (piano) and Pierre Courbois (drums), who were much more renowned. Let's not underestimate this European post-free jazz that was once considered in its infancy and which some might view as slightly old-fashioned and outdated now. I would love to know — but I won't be here to see it! — which current albums will still be worth listening to in 40 years? In the meantime, this one certainly deserves to be (re)discovered.

[FR] Gérard Terronès réédite également une rareté de son catalogue, enregistrée à la même époque : "Aorta" du sextette de Paul van Gysegem (Futura GER 27). Ce contrebassiste flamand s’était entouré de musiciens belges, qui comme lui sont restés peu connus en dehors de leurs frontières, et hollandais, Jasper van’t Hof (piano) et Pierre Courbois (batterie), eux beaucoup plus renommés. Ne méprisons pas ce post free européen qu’on disait balbutiant et que certains pourraient considérer comme un peu archaïque et dépassé. J’aimerais bien savoir — mais je ne serai plus là pour le voir ! — quels sont les disques actuels qui s’écouteront encore dans 40 ans ? En attendant, celui-ci mérite largement d’être (re)découvert.
